Living room ceramics
The living room is the space where ceramics must be beautiful, warm and discreet all at once: beautiful because it is the most visible area of the home, warm because it's where life happens, discreet because it must let the furniture and the people who live there take centre stage.
For living rooms, porcelain offers two relevant technical advantages: compatibility with underfloor heating (key in modern projects with floor heating) and very large formats that reduce grout lines and create that continuous-surface feel so sought-after in today's residential architecture.
Three questions before choosing
- Is there natural light? A living room with plenty of light: any colour works. A living room with little light: light tones (white marble effect, light concrete, cream stone).
- Is the style warm or sober? Warm: wood, stone, travertine effect. Sober: concrete, marble, granite effect.
- Is there underfloor heating? Any Stile porcelain is suitable for underfloor heating. Just avoid extremely large formats (120×240) in zones with sharp temperature changes.
Living room styles and combinations
- Modern minimalist living room: concrete or white marble effect porcelain floor, neutral-toned furniture, plenty of glass.
- Warm contemporary living room: wood or light stone effect porcelain, furniture in earth tones, natural textiles.
- Industrial living room: dark concrete or granite effect, metal furniture, walls in dark grey or exposed concrete.
- Classic premium living room: Calacatta marble effect flooring, 120×120 format minimum.
About large formats
In the living room, large format (120×60 minimum, 120×120 ideal) is almost always the right choice. It reduces grout lines, brings a sense of spaciousness and creates visual cleanliness. The extra cost per square metre is offset by the aesthetic result.
