Outdoor ceramics

Outdoor ceramics must meet more technical demands than any other type: resist frost, not fade in the sun, be anti-slip, withstand chemicals (pool chlorine, de-icing salts) and maintain their appearance for decades.

Stile's technical outdoor porcelain meets all these requirements. Available in thin formats (10mm, traditional cement installation) or thick ones (20mm, raised plot installation, on sand or artificial grass). This page brings together all outdoor solutions: terraces, patios, entrances, gardens, pool surrounds and communal areas.

Types of installation

  • Traditional cement installation (10mm): the standard option when carrying out construction work. More economical.
  • Raised plot installation (20mm): ideal for renovations over slabs or roof decks. Allows cable/pipe routing. No wet works.
  • Installation on grass or gravel (20mm): garden paths, decorative areas. Only possible with 20mm-thick porcelain.

Specific applications

  • Pool areas: mandatory Class 3 anti-slip + chlorine resistance. Lighter tones are preferable (they don't heat up).
  • Entrances and driveways: high mechanical resistance + anti-slip. Mid grey or natural stone are the most widely used options.
  • Gardens and patios: wood or stone effect to blend with nature. Large formats for a sense of continuity.
  • Communal roofs: 20mm raised installation. Allows maintenance of services without lifting the floor.

Professional recommendation

For communal areas and projects where maintenance is critical (residential communities, hotels), investing in quality technical porcelain pays for itself in 2-3 years compared with cheap alternatives that need replacing after 5-7 years. The initial price difference is far lower than the savings over 10 years.
